Elderberry Syrup Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup dried black elderberries

  • 3 cups water

  • 2 TBSP fresh or dried ginger root

  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

  • ½ tsp cloves or clove powder

  • 1 cup raw honey

Instructions

  1. Add water, elderberries, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves to medium saucepan

  2. Bring to a boil and then cover and reduce to a simmer for 1 hour.

  3. Remove from heat and let cool until it is cool enough to be handled.

  4. Mash the berries using a spoon, potato masher, or other flat utensil.

  5. Pour through a fine strainer into a glass jar or bowl, pressing juice out of elderberries.

  6. When it is no longer hot, add the honey and stir well.

  7. Pour the syrup into a glass bottle or jar of your choice.

  8. Store in the fridge and take daily for its immune boosting properties.
